The TFE1854 frequency range extension module works together with the Cobalt series vector network analyzers to form a measurement system for complex transmission and reflection coefficients in the extended frequency range. The system is controlled by the analyzer software. There is no stand-alone operation; the module cannot be used for measurements without connection to the analyzer.

It consists of the following basic elements: frequency multipliers for the measurement and heterodyne signals, a broadband power amplifier with automatic regulation, directional taps and frequency converters. Also included are power supply and control boards.
